SURF Preteen

Surf Preteen Ministry

SURF students in 5th and 6th grade are at a very transitional point in their lives, neither wanting to be treated as kids, nor yet ready to be treated as teens. It is Surf’s desire to minister to preteens by teaching them about Identity (Who God is + Who Am I), Belonging (Who is the Church + Where Do I Fit In), and Mission (Who is Jesus + What is my Mission).

Surf Meets in the Surf Shack on the west side of the NewCov campus.

Contact our Family/Preteen Pastor, Chip, for more info on Surf Preteen ministries at chip@newcov.com or (559) 298-0688.

Sunday Mornings

ONLY at 9:00am during the Summer

Note that Surf will only meet at 9:00 during the summer from June 9th – August 11th.

Fall programming at BOTH hours will resume on Sunday, August 18th.

  • At 9:00, Bill and Jan Choate take 5th/6th graders through a two year walk through the Bible. Their creative and fun way of teaching the Bible gives students a great foundation of seeing the whole picture of God’s word.
  • At 10:45, Dan Bartel and his team take an apologetics approach for preteens, and teach them how to solidify a faith of their own and how to defend the many questions that they will come across in this world. Topics include science, world religions, preparing for adolescence, how to study the Bible, etc.
Wednesday Nights

Surf Wednesday night is on break! Please check out our summer calendar to see all the fun events for 5th and 6th Graders.
