Arrival | Week 3 | Dec 13, 2020 | Pastor Scott Borman

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world… 3 And everyone went to his own town to resister. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. 7 She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:1-7

EXPERIENCING JOY

• Joy is a choice

Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth.
Colossians 3:2

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Philippians 4:4

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5

• Joy is produced in you

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

• Joy is your strength

Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some of those who have nothing prepared. This day is scared to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is our strength.
Nehemiah 8:10

• Joy is defined by the truth

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down—when we die and leave these bodies—we will have a home in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.
2 Corinthians 5:1

…No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
1 Corinthians 2:9

Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow.
James 1:17

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
