21 Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. 22 The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So, she went to inquire of the Lord. 23 The Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.” 24 When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. 25 The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau. 26 After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau’s heel; so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.

HEART ISSUES OF THE EDOMITES…

Pride.

The pride of your heart has deceived you…
Obadiah 3

In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God
Psalms 10:4

Pride leads to self–sufficiency.

3 You who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself. Who can bring me down to the ground? 4 Though you soar like an eagle and make your nests among the stars from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord.
Obadiah 3-4

Pride leads to indifference.

Because of the violence against your brother Jacob, you will be covered with shame, you will be destroyed forever.
Obadiah 10

Pride looks for personal gain.

On the day you stood aloof while strangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one of them.
Obadiah 11

RESPOND TO YOUR HEART ISSUES…

In humility.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:3

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
John 13:35

With compassion.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:27

With generosity.

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
