Time To Dream | Week 7 | Oct 25, 2020 | Pastor Scott Borman

1 Joseph could stand it no longer. There were many people in the room, and he said to his attendants, “Out, all of you!” So he was alone with his brothers when he told them who he was. Then he broke down and wept. He wept so loudly the Egyptians could hear him, and word of it quickly carried to Pharaoh’s palace.
Genesis 45:1-2

KEYS TO DISCOVERING YOUR PURPOSE

1. Believe that you have a purpose.

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

2. Understand that God is in control.

“I am Joseph!” he said to his brothers. “Is my father still alive?” But his brothers were speechless! They were stunned to realize that Joseph was standing there in front of them.“Please, come closer,” he said to them. So they came closer. And he said again, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. This famine that has ravaged the land for two years will last five more years, and there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. So it was God who sent me here, not you! And he is the one who made me an adviser to Pharaoh—the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all Egypt.
Genesis 45:3-8

3. Discover your gift and your direction.

4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your  faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:4-8

THE BENEFITS OF GOD-SIZED DREAMS

A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
Proverbs 16:18

• God-size dreams ensure our growth.

• God-size dreams force us to invite others into a bigger story.

• God-sized dreams give glory to Him, not us.

Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not men.
Colossians 3:23
