“Grace Rooted in Humility”

TO…

 The Elders, Care for the flock

 The Younger, Accept the authority of the elders

Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.

 All of You, Dress yourselves in humility

“Humility”:

• Not thinking less of self, But more of God
• Recognizing your strengths and your weaknesses
• Being willing to learn

FOR…

God opposes the proud*

But gives grace to the humble**

He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.
Proverbs 3:34

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
James 4:6

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
1 Peter 5:5
