TOGETHER AGAIN | Week 3 | May 24, 2020 | Scott Gossenberger

44 All the believers were together and had everything in common45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
Acts 2:44-45

What common commitments should we make to rebuild our community?
(Not as it was, but as it should be…)

• A COMMUNITY IS BUILT BY BUILDING TOGETHER

When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”
Exodus 32:1

Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, “These are the things the Lord has commanded you to do…”
Exodus 35:1

“From what you have, take an offering for the Lord. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the Lord an offering of gold, silver and bronze…”
Exodus 35:5

• COMMUNITIES BUILD, CROWDS CONSUME

• WHEN WE STOP BUILDING, WE STOP BECOMING A COMMUNITY AND ARE IN DANGER OF REGRESSING INTO A CROWD.

  • Commitment #1
    A common belief builds community.
  • Commitment #2
    A common concern builds community.
  • Commitment #3
A common admission of need builds community.

Conclusion: Find something common and use it as a reminder to never settle for the crowd, but fight for community.
