31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32 He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; 33 they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.” 34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
Luke 18:31-34

• Victory was predicted.

Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
Luke 18:31

THE SOVEREIGN HAND OF GOD WORKED THROUGH THE EVIL PLANS OF MEN.

• Victory is promised through rejection and pain.

He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him.
Luke 18:32

3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:3-5

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT MY GOD IS BIG ENOUGH TO HANDLE THIS?

• Victory is produced through the resurrection.

They will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.
Luke 18:33

• Victory is demonstrated in our patterns of life.

(a form or model proposed for imitation)

The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
Luke 18:34
